State 4-H SS Concessions Needed

The State Shooting Sports Team is looking for 4-H groups wishing to provide concessions for the state 4-H shooting competitions. We need concession for the following dates and locations:

#1 -- Pueblo West Range on Saturday, August 22 & Sunday, August 23, 2009 for the .22 Rifle and Muzzleloading Disciplines (both days will go to the same concession provider)

#2 -- Lake Pueblo State Park on Sunday, August 23, 2009 for the Archery Discipline

#3 -- State Fairgrounds Event Center on Sunday, August 23, 2009 for the Air Rifle/Air Pistol Disciplines.

If you or someone you know is looking for a fundraising opportunity, we would really appreciate offering these to 4-H related groups first. Please fill out and fax or email the form (link below) back to me so that we can decide on our concession providers and let them know so they can make plans.

Bass Pro Shops - Denver 4-H Activities

From Jim Hamilton:

WE have a couple of opportunities to promote the 4-H shooting sports program in the North Front Range area.

On Saturday, July 18th. Bass Pro and the 4-H Shooting sports program are sponsoring the Generations Shoot at the Colorado Clays . This shoot pares a youth shooter with an adult shooter.

The Idea here is to introduce a new generation to shooting and to the 4-H shooting sports program Registration will start at 9 am, the shoot begins at 10 am. Participants 18 and under and ladies shoot for $35, gentlemen shoot for $50. Price includes lunch, prizes and 100 clay targets.

At this event we need some 4-H shotgun leaders to be available to give Training to those who participate. For some this means only seeing that they can already tackle a 5-stand course. There will also be some who have never shot a shotgun. We will need several instructors there. It will be a real fun event. Dan Daroo will be there doing interviews and filming for the event.

Bass Pro will have shotguns from their collection there for people to use ……ever shoot a $4000.00 shotgun? Here is your chance.

The weekend of August 15 & 16 is the 2nd weekend of Bass Pro’s Fall Classic It’s Kids Day
We will have the shooting trailer there and also be able to do Bagging for Tips. Bagging For Tips has brought in a couple of thousand dollars in the past. The income will be split proportionally by those clubs who work. Unlike in past years we will have to have adults manning the bagging stations and taking donations (Child Labor Laws!!!!)

2009 Rule Book Revision Explained

From Holli Campbell, 2009 State 4-H Shoot Superintendent:

Two pages of the 2009/2010 shooting sports state contest rulebook were found to have typographical errors in the class numbers listed that may come into play when registering 4-H members for the state shoot. These errors have been corrected in the revised version (6/26/09) of the rulebook. The errors were on pages 6 and 21 and had to do with the class numbers and names for classes. These changes should not affect preparations or practice regiments of 4-H members. If you have any questions, let me know. Holli Campbell (720) 887-2294.

2009 T.U.N.E. Nature Experience

We have now posted a revised version (as of 6/26/2009) of the 2009 Colorado State 4-H Shoot Contest Rule Book. This version corrects the class numbers and descriptions that were in error. Please download your new version and replace the old one!

I wanted to let you know that some of class numbers and class descriptions listed in the 2009-2010 State 4-H Shooting Sports Contest Rule Book are incorrect. Please do not use these class numbers or descriptions for entering contestants in the state shoot or for use at county fairs. The correct numbers and descriptions will be published as part of the state shoot contest information packet coming soon. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
